Canoe & Kayak; Recreation to Touring

 We offer a variety of paddling trips near Birmingham Alabama ranging from 3-10 miles for a day trip.  We continue to add trips all the time and we also offer overnight expeditions.  These day trips are family friendly and a great thing to do on your day off (no children under 6 years old). 

Local Day Trip Choices – All trips are not open all the time.  Our Standard trip is the 5 mile Buck Creek to HWY 52 trip. 

3 Mile Trip (Upper Buck Creek to Old Town Helena) - The 3 mile trip from Highway 52 to Old Town Helena is very scenic and will serve as the perfect trip for the folks that don’t want to be out for long.  This tight class 1 float trip winds down and is really one of the most scenic little trips that we offer in the Birmingham area.  This is also a great trip for anglers.  AVERAGE PADDLING TIME IS 1.5 HOURS (NOT YET OPENED)

5 Mile Trip (Buck Creek in Old Town Helena to the Cahaba Hwy 52) – (STANDARD TRIP) The 5 mile trip from Old Town Helena to Highway 52 starts out with 2 miles of paddling on the very scenic Buck Creek and ends with 3 miles on the Cahaba, This is a great trip for most everyone and has been our most popular run for the last 5 years, You will not be disappointed if you join us for this wonderful trip.  You can fish, swim, picnic, or just enjoy the relaxation that this run offers. AVERAGE PADDLING TIME IS 3 HOURS.

8 Mile Trip – Combine the 3 and 5 mile trip and you will have a great day.  You can also stop in Old Town Helena for lunch along the way.  AVERAGE PADDLING TIME IS 4.5 HOURS. (NOT YET OPENED)

10 Mile Trip - (Old Montgomery Highway in Riverchase to the Cahaba Hwy 52) – This is the longest day trip that we offer.  It is a really long day trip for intermediate paddlers.  We offer only 1 shuttle on Saturdays at 9 am.  We can open up shuttles on Sunday at 9 am for a group of 3 or more canoes.  Limited shuttle times.

Regular Rental Rates

All Rentals include boat, paddles, PFDs (Personal Flotation Devises a.k.a. Life Jackets), and a shuttle.

Rates below are based on regular rental rate structure and a outline for individual boat rental.

*All Canoe Rentals are based on 2 people per boat.  A $10 per person fee will be assessed for anything over 2 people.  Maximum is 2 adults and 2 small children per boat.  No more than 2 adults per canoe.

Shuttle Times and Information

Shuttles Leave on the hour, so please arrive 15-20 minutes early to sign in and check equipment out.

Shuttles are offered 7 days a week if reservations are made in advance. 

MONDAY-FRIDAY - Limited trips for groups only available. 

SATURDAY – 8:30am (10 Mile Trip ONLY), 10am, & 11am (On Saturday, we will add a 12pm shuttle when 1^st 3 shuttles are full.   Walk up are welcome if boats are available from last shuttle time to 1pm.) – All Boats Must Be Back by 5pm

SUNDAY – 11am & 12pm - All Boats Must Be Back by 5pm

Reservations –Reservations MUST be made and all trips paid in advance to reserve a spot.  A credit card is needed on file for any lost or damaged equipment.  Emails will NOT be valid for reservations.  Please call 205-874-5623 to make reservations. 

Waivers and Sign In Forms – A Waiver must be filled out completely and signed by EVERY person before he/she is allowed to participate.  Anyone between the ages of 6 and 18 years old MUST have a parent or guardian’s signature before he or she is allowed to participate (no one under 6 allowed).  One person from each group will also have a valid credit card as a deposit for all of the equipment that is checked out and signed for in case of broken or lost equipment.
